Assemblage of Post-Consumer Materials

48″ x 48″

After creating The Crying Indian, which used many different shades of brown for skin tones, I chose to create a portrait of my husband without using any brown. In this piece, I chose to use the 5 colors a printing press would use—primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and black and white. The idea is that when seen from a distance, the viewer’s eyes will “blend” the colors together, creating a visual “brown” from red, yellow, and black.
