I have always been drawn to the majestic-looking Egret. These solitary birds are easily spotted sitting in the marsh or fishing at the edge of the water in the creeks around the Charleston area where I grew up. Their snowy white feathers create a stark contrast to the darker green grasses and grayish-blue water that are accentuated here. I was inspired to create this during the Gulf oil spill in 2010 in which the oil flowed non-stop for 3 months.
