Assemblage of Dr. Roberts’ miscellaneous items

This posthumous portrait of Dr. Alan Roberts captures not only his likeness but tells a story about the man through his personal belongings. Included are some of the tools of his trade (stethoscope and other various surgical tools, etc), as well as tools of his hobbies, which were sailing and cooking. He collected quarters, used a certain brand of shoe polish, and had a Georgia driver’s license.  He used his personal battle with cancer as a way to better understand his patients and therefore be a more compassionate doctor.
