Created for the “Women Creating Women” show, this piece came about by accident. I wanted to paint a portrait of my 8-year-old daughter to include in the show as a way to celebrate her as a young woman. In the charcoal “Relevant”, I captured her as she wanted to be portrayed, but asked if she could show some of her long hair across her shoulder. When she took off her hat and pulled her hair to a side ponytail I captured this image and had to paint it as well.
