February 1–28—Art From the Ashes, Tapp’s Art Center
As part of the year-long City of Columbia commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the burning of Columbia by Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman, an art exhibition will be held at the Tapp’s Art Center during the month of February. Artists were asked to respond to the 1865 burning through their work and during a panel presentation will have an opportunity to discuss their inspiration and process. I chose to create an assemblage portrait of General Sherman from Southern nightmares; his devilish face appearing among red and yellow flames.
